Username at Smashing Solution can not be changed.

Is it OK to have more than one account on Smashing Solution?

No. To protect the integrity of the system, our policy is one person, one account. This is to help prevent users from artificially promoting a solution, which is explicitly against our Terms of Use.

Can I choose which emails I receive from Smashing Solution?

We do, by default, notify users when certain events happen on Smashing Solution, such as when another user befriends you or when your smashing gets the solution. However, you can manage which notification emails you receive by logging in and heading over to the Account Settings area.

It’s important to check your registered email address periodically to ensure that it’s the one you currently use. This is one of the ways we confirm that we’re communicating with the correct user about account status and information. However, if your registered email address is out-of-date and you have no way of accessing it, contact us and we’ll do our best to help you.

How can I close my Smashing Solution account?

For the time being, you’ll need to contact us to have your account closed. Please note that your account’s submissions and comments will not be removed, per our Terms of Use, but that content will be anonymized and not associated with your username.

I have something to submit, but there is no topic/category for it. Can I submit it?

You can choose the nearest category or topic and contact us about the situation, suggest us the new category. We will handle the rest.

How can I edit a problem/question I submitted?

If the problem has not received any answers/solutions, you can edit it from your account under 'my smashes' by clicking 'Open' tab. Otherwise you will have to contac us. Be sure to include the URL of the smashing content submitted you want to edit as well as the updated title, category, or description. You must be the original submitter of the content to request an edit to a smashing and you must email us from the email address associated with your Smashing Solution account.

How do I submit something to Smashing Solution?

Go to smashingsolution.com/submit/ or click on the "Start Smashing" link that’s shown on green area of header. You must be logged in to submit smashing. Select Category and sub-category, write title of smashing, write short description, and hit smash it button and you’re all set.

How can I delete a smashing I submitted? Can Smashing Solution remove submissions without notice?

You can delete a submission if it has not received solutions. After that you will have to contact us to get it deleted. Once a story has been submitted to Smashing Solution, it is dedicated to the public domain under the Creative Commons Zero Public Domain Dedication, available at http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ according to our Terms of Use. We do reserve the right to remove content that is determined to be in violation of our Terms of Use at any time and at our discretion.

Someone’s being rude to me, what do I do?

Can I make my profile and Smashing Solution activity totally private?

Smashing Solution is a social media site by definition, so sharing a certain amount of information is important. Your Smashings, suggested sulotions, submissions, comments and favorites are all important contributions to the Smashing Solution community. That said, you can keep personal information private if you like by updating your 'profile settings'.

Why is my private information (age, location, name) showing on my profile?

First, make sure your settings reflect your desire to keep certain information private by logging in and clicking the 'Profile Settings' tab. You can share your age, along with other information (such as your full name and location) to everyone, just your friends or nobody at all. Note that if you’ve chosen to display certain information to nobody, you will still see it when you’re logged in and viewing your own profile. However, it won’t be shown to anyone else on the site. You can confirm this by logging out and viewing your profile.

Why is my personal info still showing up in other search engine results?

When you've opted to remove private information from your public Smashing Solution profile (such as your full name, age, and location), sometimes it takes search engines a few days for their results to reflect the changes that you've made. Smashing Solution has no direct control over the amount of time that it takes for an external site to update this information, so the length of the delay may vary. Please note that deactivating your Smashing Solution account doesn't speed up this process. If you're concerned about private information being displayed in search engine results, we recommend that you change your account's privacy settings in 'profile settings' immediately.
